PDF의 표를 Excel에 붙이면 어긋납니다
PDF의 표를 선택해 복사하고 Excel에 붙이면 모두 한 열에 쌓이고, 행은 어긋나며, 병합된 머리글은 흩어집니다. 숫자 열이 많을수록 손으로 되돌리는 데 시간이 걸립니다.
원인은 PDF에 표라는 개념이 없기 때문입니다. 내용물은 「이 좌표에 이 글자를 그려라」, 「여기에 선을 그어라」라는 지시일 뿐입니다. 눈에는 괘선과 숫자가 표로 보이지만, 파일 안에서 둘은 아무 관계가 없습니다. 복사는 그리는 순서대로 글자를 주워 담을 뿐이고, 거기서 행과 열의 대응이 사라집니다.
그래서 구조를 좌표로부터 다시 세워야 합니다. PDFIntact는 배치를 분석해 어느 셀이 어느 행·열에 속하는지, 어디가 병합되어 있는지를 판단한 뒤 Excel의 실제 병합 셀로 써냅니다.

- Why do PDF tables lose their alignment in Excel?
- Because a PDF does not store tables as tables. It stores instructions to draw characters at coordinates and lines at coordinates, with no link between them. Copying reads characters in drawing order, so rows and columns fall apart.
- Are merged cells preserved?
- Yes. Multi-level header rows — merged horizontally and vertically — are reproduced as merged cells in Excel, and rules are drawn so you can see the extent of each merge and check it against the original PDF.
- What about documents with a lot of tables?
- Each table becomes its own sheet, named with its page number. Above 40 tables and charts the output switches to three sheets — contents, tables and charts — with internal links from the contents sheet, because dozens of tabs stop being usable.
- Can I tell whether the numbers were read correctly?
- Each table carries a confidence band showing whether values were read from the document, estimated, or could not be read. Unreadable cells are marked rather than silently left blank, so you know where to check.
